Crime Investigation in Bremen

Although Bremen is a city with beautiful historic architecture on the one hand and modern flair on the other, rising population figures and a flourishing economy have unfortunately also led to increasing crime. While the crime rate in Bremen has fallen slightly in recent years, the police clear-up rate has also declined significantly.

From 71,212 offences in 2013, the number of recorded crimes fell to 70,781 in 2014 (minus 431), but at the same time the clear-up rate dropped from 49.4 per cent to 45.3 per cent. This represents 3,115 more unsolved cases than in the previous year and 38,718 in total. For these unresolved offences, the investigators of Kurtz Detective Agency Bremen are at your side: +49 421 3679 9066.

Victims Do Not Want to Remain Victims

In the private sector, the number of theft and fraud offences to the detriment of older people has declined slightly. This is largely due to media-based public awareness campaigns about the methods used by offenders, for example with regard to the so-called “grandchild scam”. Nevertheless, elderly and disabled people are still regarded by fraudsters as “easy prey”.

Meanwhile, robbery and general theft offences are on the rise. In 2014, 1,035 completed robberies were recorded, with a clear-up rate of 40 per cent. The increase in completed offences is even more pronounced in the case of burglary: up by 242 to 1,818 cases, yet the clear-up rate here is just 6.9 per cent – an extremely unsatisfactory result for law enforcement agencies and for the victims alike. The situation is similarly poor for victims of pickpocketing: of 2,512 completed offences, only 9 per cent were solved. As offence figures rise, so too does the number of calls to our private detectives in Bremen. More and more victims no longer rely solely on the work of the police, but take matters into their own hands by seeking the support of our investigators: kontakt@kurtz-detektei-bremen.de.

Motor vehicle theft and theft from vehicles are also problems in Bremen. The frequency of car theft in Bremen is above the national average, but still well below the hotspots of Hamburg and eastern Germany.

Criminal Offences Against Companies

While violent crimes and criminal damage declined in 2014, economic crime increased significantly, doubling compared to the previous year. This development not only alarms entrepreneurs, but also poses an existential threat to many companies. Consequently, our corporate detectives in Bremen are increasingly asked for support in cases such as industrial and data espionage, unusual inventory or cash discrepancies, or staff checks in cases of suspicion such as expense fraud and misuse of sick leave. In addition, we assist your business with crime prevention by having our security specialists review your premises and develop a security concept with you to improve offence prevention.

A further rise in criminal offences can be observed in the field of cybercrime. Credit card misuse, data espionage, software piracy and similar offences cause massive financial damage. While both offence figures and damage amounts declined in 2012 and 2013, cases rose sharply in 2014. Around 2,400 cases were officially recorded, and the amount of damage increased by 277,556 euros to 1,223,248 euros. For the first time since 2011, the million-euro threshold was exceeded again. Many companies face this development feeling helpless and at a loss. These cases, however, are part of the daily work of our security and IT experts in Bremen. Our qualified specialists examine computer systems for protection against unauthorised access and optimise them, or carry out IT forensic investigations following an attack on your data. Please feel free to describe your concern via our contact form.
